Law no. 62/2011 regarding social dialogue was amended this January. According to the new provisions, the Unions have the right to ask the employers to withhold for them the amounts representing the employees’ subscriptions directly from the employees’ wages. An express consent of the employee is still needed in order for the employer to consider the Union’s demand. A more important change regards the fact that Union Federations can become part of a Collective Labor Agreement at Company level, if the union in the Company is not representative and the Federation is representative at the sector level.
