A new Government Ordinance was adopted recently that establishes new rules on the remuneration of some categories of public sector employees, especially those in the medical and education institutions. More than 650.000 employees are said to benefit from this Ordinance. Even with these new rules, there is still great pressure by the unions on the Government and the Finance and Labor Ministries for a deeper reform of the public sector salary policy. Greater reforms are expected for other public sectors in the coming months.
