With the aim of ensuring the correct application of the substantive rules of the European Union on the free movement of workers and monitoring their enforcement, the law establishes measures for the uniform application and practical implementation of the right of free movement of workers. Legal standing is granted to organizations whose purpose is to defend or promote the rights and interests of workers of the European Union and members of their families, concerning the exercise of the freedom of movement. A number of entities are empowered to promote, analyse, monitor and support equal treatment of European Union workers and members of their families. These entities shall provide legal assistance in their area of competence. A contact and coordination body is also designated to ensure contact with the European Commission and equivalent bodies in other Member States in order to cooperate and share relevant information (Law n.º 27/2017).
