Recently, some provinces and municipalities have issued new rules to expose employers’ labor protection violations. For example, the Measures on the Publication of Employer Information for Labor Protection Violations in Shenzhen Municipality provides that employers who commit severe labor protection violations will be exposed to the public. The information that will be publicized includes the employer name, its representative or responsible staff, the factual basis of the violation and relevant laws, the administrative punishment imposed, etc. The Management Measures on Social Insurance Fee Arrears of Jiangsu Province (for Trial Implementation) also specifies that if a company is identified by relevant authorities as engaging in severe dishonest behavior, such as serious failures to declare and pay social insurance fees, the authorities may publish such information via social media or self-managed media. As the Internet gains more uses within the government, we can expect that more and more provinces and municipalities will expose information of employers’ labor protection violations to the public online to better monitor and encourage employers to abide by law.
