The Work and Security Act (WWZ) has resulted in changes to the Unemployment Security Act. A portion of the amended Unemployment Security Act entered into effect as per 1 July 2015 and the employment benefit is now calculated in a different manner. Prior to 1 July 2015 the amount of earned salary was divided by the amount of days worked, with a maximum of 261 worked days in case the employee worked a full year. As per 1 July 2015, the earned salary will always be divided by 261, irrespective of the amount of worked days. The consequences are substantial for employee’s who did not work a full year.
