The Chamber of Representatives approved a bill that amends Sections 513, 515 and adds Section 151 Bis to the Mexican Federal Labor Law (the “FLL”) with the purpose of updating the Tables of work illnesses and valuation of permanent disabilities, resulting from work hazards (the “Tables”).
Section 513 of the FLL provides that the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare (the “Ministry”) will update the Tables with the approval of the corresponding project by the National Consultative Commission of Health and Safety at the Workplace.
Also, pursuant to Section 115 of the FLL, the Ministry will perform all necessary investigations and studies according to the progress of work medicine, with the purpose of updating the aforesaid Tables, in line with Sections 513 and 514 of the FLL.
Moreover, Section 515 Bis provides that the Federal Regulations on Safety and Health at the Workplace will set the aspects and kind of information that must be contained in the Tables.
Once the corresponding proceedings to update the Tables are substantiated, they must be issued within 6 months following the date on which the bill comes into effect.
The bill was passed on to the Senate for its approval.
