The CGIL, one of the main Unions in Italy, has called for a referendum aimed to i) limit the use of the vouchers, ii) abolish the amended law on article 18 of the Workers Statute (Law n. 300/1970), regulating the remedies in the case of unfair dismissals, and iii) secure more protections for employees of companies working on the basis of service contracts. The Constitutional Court has declared the referendum on article 18 inadmissible, while allowing the other two.
