Legislative Decree no. 80 on 25th June 2015
The new Law has increased the rights of male and female employees in case of maternity/paternity. For instance, the optional maternity/paternity leave granted until the child is 8 years old may now be requested up until the child is 12 years old. Furthermore, the indemnity equal to 30% of the salary granted in case of optional maternity/paternity leave, originally granted until the child was 3 years old, is now granted until the child is 6 years old. The same is provided in the case of adoption. As regards to self-employed workers, please note that the daily maternity indemnity granted to female workers is now provided to male workers in case of death of the mother, abandonment or exclusive custody granted to the father.
