Government Decision no. 614/2015 amending and supplementing Government Decision no. 215/2009 approving the Methodological Norms on granting holiday vouchers was published in the Official Gazette, Part I, no. 591 of August 6, 2015.
The legislation states that employers who hire staff by concluding an individual labor contract may grant employees holiday vouchers, which can be used only in tourist structures of Romania.
According to the law, there will be granted vacation vouchers both on paper and electronically, a decision that will be taken by employers in agreement with trade unions and representatives of beneficiaries. They will set rules on how to award the first holiday as holiday vouchers which provides:
- the number of beneficiaries in the unit can receive holiday vouchers and the amounts to be granted to beneficiaries in the form of holiday vouchers, taking into account the employers’ own financial possibilities;
- categories of beneficiaries who receive holiday vouchers;
- whether the holiday vouchers: are issued electronically and or on paper.
For employers in the private sector, the amounts to cover nominal Holiday vouchers will be included in the income budgets approved in a distinct position called “holiday vouchers”.
