Law no. 173 was recently adopted as of 29 June 2015, approving Government Ordinance no. 8/2014 for the amendment of certain terms set out in the Government Emergency Ordinance no. 8/2009 regarding granting holiday vouchers. According to the law, employers who hire staff by signing a labor contract may provide holiday vouchers to the employees, which can only be used in tourist sights in Romania`s territory. Holiday vouchers issued in paper form or electronically, cannot exceed, during a calendar year, the guaranteed payment for each employee equivalent to six minimum gross base salaries. Holiday Vouchers are supported entirely by the employee and its corresponding amounts are deductible for income tax.
