After the massive Tianjin Explosion last year, Chinese State Administration of Work Safety and its local branches are paying more attention to employees’ work safety and tightening inspections and supervision on related safety regulation enforcement. Recently, many new rules regarding work safety have been issued or drafted for public opinion, e.g. Several Provisions on Implementation of Work Safety Law (Exposure Draft) (“the Provisions”), Management Practices for Labor Protection Articles of Employers (“the Practices”), etc. The Practices require that employers should reserve special funds to equip employees (including dispatched workers and interns, etc.) with labor protection articles, which shall not be replaced with currency or other articles. We can expect that more detailed and comprehensive work safety rules will be issued by competent authorities in China.
