As a consequence of the Unified Employment Status Act of 26 December 2013, the notice periods for blue- and white-collar workers were aligned for the seniority accrued after 1 January 2014. Yet, for the seniority accrued before 1 January 2014, blue-collar workers still have shorter notice periods. In order to compensate for these shorter notice periods, a compensatory indemnity paid by the National Unemployment Office is granted to blue-collar workers that meet certain conditions. For dismissals in 2015, this compensatory indemnity was only granted to blue-collar workers with a seniority of at least 15 years. Since 1 January 2016, such an indemnity will also be granted to blue-collar workers with a minimum of 10 years of seniority.
