Date: Thursday, May 30, 2019 – 1pm to 2pm AEST
According to the 2016 ABS Census data, 46.2% of working Australians are aged 40 years and older, suggesting that an ageing workforce is a significant reality for employers operating in Australia. In this session, Michael Harmer will explore how best to avoid age-related discrimination in the workplace.
The webinar will cover:
- age discrimination and the law more broadly;
- practical examples of what can constitute age discrimination in the workplace (e.g. isolating behaviour, giving work based on age/seniority etc.);
- how to avoid and minimise the prospect of a successful age discrimination claim; and
- forced retirement clauses in employment contracts and partnership agreements.
